Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP)

Agile Alliance Professional Development Program
Courses, Workshops, and Seminars that help participants learn about agile methodologies through hands-on exercises, small group discussions, lectures, and demonstrations in a classroom environment. Many of these courses also cover topics like coaching/mentoring/facilitation skills, change management as well as communication and collaboration skills.
This self-paced program takes approximately one year to complete with six months (180 days) of skydiving (intensive preparation), followed by another six months (180 days) of free fall (working on real projects), and the final six months (180 days) of glide (validating learning through experience).
Agile Certified Professional Program
This is an online program aimed at helping professionals prepare for ACP Exam within one year from the enrollment date.
The self-paced courses are designed to be taken over 3 phases with each phase consisting of a specific number of courses.
There is no skydiving or free-fall period in this program, only glide where learners are encouraged to work on their project while they validate their knowledge and competency level toward the certification.
The maximum time limit per course is 2 hours; after which you can take a break before moving forward in your preparation plan.
PRINCE2 is a project management methodology that assists project managers with providing strategic advice to clients and senior managers.
The PRINCE2 Project Management Methodology was developed in the UK by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) and is now owned and maintained by AXELOS, which is an independent company.
Back in 2009, Stephen Kelly was appointed as the Chief Executive of AXELOS.
In his role, Kelly has been charged with managing the development of PRINCE2 and also steering work on introducing process standards into government departments.
Although Kelly had never been involved in IT or business systems before he started working at AXELOS, he has already completed more than 12 one-on-one interviews with international leaders including Adair Turner, Michael Sandel, and Richard Branson.
“The first thing I say to them is: ‘Do you know PRINCE2?'” Kelly explained in an interview last year. “People are always surprised when they realize that it’s a methodology which has been used by government departments for the past 10 years.”
The Institute of Of Directors (IoD) has also been quick to recognize how well-suited PRINCE2 is for large-scale projects.
It has recently launched a development program with AXELOS on behalf of its members to further develop the project management syllabus so that it meets the needs of businesses operating today.
In addition to helping guide leaders in Whitehall, AXELOS has also helped introduce standards to the NHS, a feat which has helped to reduce treatment errors by 82%.
Steve Spence, who is a director for the company and was also appointed in 2009 as an executive board member of The National Archives, said that when he started his role at AXELOS there were only around 4,000 PRINCE2 project managers in the country.
Now they have grown their community to more than 40,000.
“What we are trying to do now isn’t be another quango,” Mr. Spence explained. “We have been given the responsibility for developing one of the most important British exports ever.”
This is because without PRINCE2’s Project Management Methodology there would be no projects such as HS2 or HS1.
Mr. Spence is now keen to make sure that the syllabus isn’t just something that is used for big government projects, instead, he wants the methodology to be adopted by businesses across the globe.
“We want people to use it even at a tactical level,” he added. “So you might have your project managers using it in small businesses or SMEs and they can say: ‘This has been tried and tested on our government contracts.'” The next step for AXELOS will be deciding what accreditation program will be developed next so that business leaders can show their experience with PRINCE2.
A recent report from Bloomberg highlighted how successful this strategy appears to be as there are already between 1 million and 2 million users of the methodology.

This means that the effort put into creating such a detailed schedule would have been wasted unless it was being used for visualizing what stages would need to take place throughout the project rather than with scheduling purposes.
